WHAT'S THIS?

Having been immersed in memoir writing for many months, I decided to write a small poem every day for a year to keep my poetic hand in. I've posted them to Instagram and facebook as written – where, to my amazement, people love them – but on this blog they are sometimes subject to later rewriting.

I find 'Excalibur' ...

 

I find ‘Excalibur’ on my smart TV

and watch for nostalgia’s sake, 

but come away disappointed. 

In memory it seemed more magical.

And they made Percival do duty

for both Gareth and Bedivere.…

(Dear patient, loyal young Gareth 

is my favourite Round Table knight.)

At least they didn’t try guessing 

at some ‘historically’ grubby 

new retelling. I like my Malory!
