WHAT'S THIS?

Having been immersed in memoir writing for many months, I decided to write a small poem every day for a year to keep my poetic hand in. I've posted them to Instagram and facebook as written – where, to my amazement, people love them – but on this blog they are sometimes subject to later rewriting.

I’ve been practising …

I’ve been practising all day

the delightful art of procrastination:

a nurturing practice — because

despite what you may have been told

there are some things which not only

can wait, they are all the better for it.

If I don’t plan what to have for dinner

I can give myself a lovely surprise.

If I decide to stay in and read all day today,

I’ll enjoy my walk all the more tomorrow.

If I keep putting off dusting the knick-knacks,

I can write more poems. And so on. *Smile.*
